A Dynamic Life Travel Blog was launched in 2020, admittedly the worst time to publish a travel blog. The world was on lockdown, the tourism industry brought to a grinding halt, and I was unexpectedly stuck in Botswana for nearly 8 months.
During that time, I lost my job and had an enormous number of wildlife run-ins. I needed a creative outlet, I needed purpose, and I needed something to bide my time. I built ADL as a passion project focusing on things I loved like writing about travel experiences, sharing recipes, photography, and travel planning.
My favorite travel stories and were the ones that when everything went awry.
Why? Because...
1. They often taught me something. Whether it was learning to keep cool under extreme circumstances, how to embrace solitude, or what a strangers kindness looks like. As well as what NOT to do again.
And
2. For years, my friends from home thought I was on "permanent vacation" and had little insight into the challenges that came from being a full-time traveler, a digital nomad, or an immigrant trying to integrate into a completely new environment, culture, and language.
When readers began connecting with their own personal experiences, it gave me great sense of belonging and community.
Travel isn't always a vacation. It's about stepping outside of your comfort zone to discover something new. I hope this blog can help you do that with greater ease, a sense of purpose, and an open mind.
Happy reading.
With love,
Laura
